Wanna hear a good one?

So, back in JUNE, we put down a deposit on a car. $100, no big deal, but were told that if we didn't purchase the car, that it would refunded. So fast forward to the next day, I call to cancel, speak to a girl, we'll call her Ann.

Check the c/c bill online, still no refund as of 7/12. Call, speak to Ann, leave a message, this time call the c/c co. to tell them about it. On 7/13, my dh calls twice! Speaks to Ann. On 7/14, I call AGAIN!!! and speak to Ann. She leaves a message for the manager, who we'll call Bob. Bob is supposed to get back to me. Great.

Check the c/c bill online today, 7/19, still no refund!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon So I call again. Talk to Ann and now here's the conversation.

Me: "Hi, is this Ann?"
Ann: "Who's calling?"
Me: "This is so and so, this is the 6th time I'm calling about a $100 refund."
Ann: "Oh My God, I remember, hi! Let me transfer you to our manager, his name is Bob"
Me: "Great, thanks!" (I am super nice, too!)

Bob: "This is Bob, how can I help you?"
I retell the story

Bob: "We don't have an Ann here. "
Me: "That is who we've spoken to EVERY TIME WE'VE DIALED YOUR NUMBER AND SHE IS WHO TRANSFERED ME TO YOU!!!"
Bob: "Are you sure you have the right dealership?"
Me: "Um, I am looking at the sales receipt...yup, dummy me is sure (I don't say that so much, but yeah, I think I'm sure!"
Bob: Well, I will look into it.
ME: Okay, Bob, just for reference, let me tell you the VIN numbe rof the car, the receipt number the credid card receipt reference number and any other information you may need TO GIVE ME MY MONEY!!!

Call your cc company and dispute the charges. They will give you the $$ back while they fight it out with the dealer.

Good luck!

The same thing happened to me with Nissan, I must have called 10 times, 1 month later still no refund so I went down there to the dealership and told them if I didnt have my money in my hand in teh next 10 minutes I was calling the cops and I would start screaming about their business practice. I got my $$ in five minutes. But WHY should we have to even go that farChat Icon

Re: Wanna hear a good one?

I just had a similar problem (although without teh biizarre Ann thing). We put a deposit down, called the next day to cancel, spoke with the saleswoman,e tc etc it was not refunded. FH called to speak with the manager, who is an old boss of mine, who thought we were still buying the car, and I feel so awkward because I don't knowif Fh made it clear that we DID call the next day to cancel. Ugh. I don't know why they can't just run the refund right then and there and save us all a lot of hassle

There is def. an 'lantic' in it! 'AT' some point, possibly AT the end! Chat Icon

ETA: I did dispute it with the credit card co, but they supposedly have 30 days to refund it! But to ask me, 'do you have the rightdealership?'

Does dialing a phone number on a purchase order with the name on it automatically bring me to a DIFFERENT dealership? And he knew the salesman I was talking about!!! SCam artist. Now, I can understand the haggle if it were $5000 b/c they could make mad interest on that money for 30 days. But $100??? We're talking 3 cents of interest! Is it worth it? Chat Icon

Re: Wanna hear a good one?

I would take it up with the BBB and your credit card company - they should be able to get the $$ back for you.

Re: Wanna hear a good one?

its your money....thats so annoying
thats why I never leave a deposit if it can be helped because it is a struggle to get it back

when I went to Davids Bridal just looking for dresses this tuxedo guy wanted me to give him a deposit and I didnt even know where we were getting tuxes yet and he was so annoying about leaving the deposit I knew if we didnt use them I would never get that money back

Re: Wanna hear a good one?

I went to that dealership when I was buying my truck. The guy tells me the one I test drove is the last one he has with the features I want. I tell him I want it for $20K...and I have the consumer reports price sheet with me. He tells me that there is no way he can sell me the truck for less that $23K and that the price sheet I have is a total lie! That CR makes the prices up!!!!
Needless to say, I got the same truck...in the color I wanted...at a different dealer...for $19K.

They are the WORST dealership on LI!!!!!
