12 week appointment and ultrascreen?
The Doctor said the measure the baby's neck and do a blood test to check for downs syndrome.
Is it a regular ultrasound?

at my ultrascreen they did a vaginal ultrasound, she first had tried the abdomenal one and the baby was moving too much for her to get to the spot she needed, so they had to do it the other way. It is amazing how small of an area they are looking at, but anyway.. they also do a finger prick and take 5 drops of blood. it wasnt bad at all.

They did both for mine. Baby B wasn't coming up on the screen as clearly as they wanted.

That is the nuchal fold screening. That is a soecial screening, not a typical sono

When I had mine it was basically a normal u/s. At first she couldn't get the area she needed so she was going to do an internal but I went to the bathroom and the baby moved so she was able to see it through a regular sonogram. My avatar pictures are from the ultrascreen u/s

Mine was an abdominal sono and my baby wouldn't lay in the right position so I had to go back the next week.... But you'll still get pics just like a regular sono

They do that untrasound between 11 and 13 weeks. It's known as NT. They measure the baby's neck and other things, but at that time you can see your baby moving and it is a long ultrasound so it's great to see the baby.
It was the first time that we saw our baby moving and it was the firs time that we heard the heart beat.
After that, some blood is taken and in around a week they have the results.
