Nervous about 1st OB appt.
I got my BFP about 4 1/2 weeks ago but have not been to the doctor. This office takes first OB appointments at 8-10 weeks. I'm just worried becasue:
A. don't know what to expect at this visit - procedures
B. my friend had her mis-carriage at her 8 week visit
C. afraid they will tell me I'm not as far along as I thought I was and that maybe M/S can still get me
D. it will be valetines day and I dread bad news on that day - a day that I usually love.
DH made me promie him I will not think negatively.

its so normal to be nervous. but really try not to be. the first visit is simple. they will most likely do an internal sonogram, give you an estimated due date, and take lots of blood. keep posivtive. only good thoughts. i have a stong feeling this valentines is going to be a wonderful day for you.

Try not to worry.. like the other poster said...
They just give you a quick exam, draw some blood and thats it.
Think positive!!!

i was nervous my 1st tiem my second time and im, sure i will be nervous y third time in a few weeks as well. I think its normal butr i think seeing your little one and the heartbeat puts your mind at ease

I just went for mine last week when i was at 8 weeks and 1 day. Its pretty routine, well, except you are preganant (which was also a first for me!) - they do blood work, pap smear (I went to a new ob/gyn recommended here but if you have one on file, maybe they won't), weight, make you pee in the cup (twice - once for a quick test and one sterile sample for a test) and then do an internal exam. not too bad....we scheduled a sono for this coming week on wed too - so we will see the baby (oh my gosh - it seems so weird - I have a baby!!! anyway, sorry to ramble...)
I think we are all afraid of a m/c of problems with the baby - I am neurotic before all of this so you can imagine now - but my dh is like yours and is of a more positive mindset. Just because something happened to a friend doesn't mean it will necessarily happen to you at the same time, too - so try not to focus on this (even though it is so much easier than to say!).
I truly believe that everytyhing happens for a reason so it should all work out for both of us in the end!
Good luck and think of it as potentially your best valentines day yet!!!!
