Need BTDT info regarding delivery-maybe TMI
Is there anything that should be done to get ready to give birth, as far as shaving/waxing, etc are concerned? Sorry if this is an embarassing question, but any knowledge or advice would be appreciated. I just want do what will make for the best delivery & recovery without the risk of infection.

Well, I shaved everything before I went to the hospital...in fact, my water broke and then I proceeded to get into the shower and "clean up" before I had to go to the hospital.

There is no medical need to do anything. Do what will make you most comfortable.

I think in the "old days" they used to shave you before delivery, but I don't believe they do that anymore. I tried to keep groomed on a regular basis, but you know how it is...nearly impossible with the belly. I guess just do the best you can for dignity's sake (hehehe!) but I don't think infection is a concern.

I was induced, so I shaved that morning. I wanted to wax but I was afraid that it would be more sensitive down therre and hurt more than it normally does.
Also, you can massage the perineal area to help avoid an episiotomy/tearing. I did not do this, but a friend of mine did with all 3 of her PG and I know she did not tear or get cut with the first 2.

I couldn't see a damn thing for the shaving part so I did the best I could right before I headed to the hospital.
The next day I was clean as a whistle.
I agree on the perineal massages - I didn't do it either. Other than the IV, the worst part of my delivery was the stitches afterward.

I didn't shave down there....I just made sure it was tidy. I'm sure there is little risk for infection.

I got in the shower and shaved as soon as I realized I was in labor.

I'm an L&D nurse and the only time we care is if you need a c-section. If there is a lot of hair where they need to make the incision then we might shave it.

this might sound stupid, but when would you start doing this? like, how long before delivery?

2 months befire is ideal, I also shaved completely, and that is alwasy when my hubby knows that I have a feeling that labor wil begin soon. Each time I shaved the day before I gave birth and each time my hubby said "so I guess we're going to the hospital tomorrow!"
