If your baby does not sleep well with loud noises ...
Is it your fault? DH always says I have to get him used to sleeping in places with loud noises. We do go to places with loud noises but DS won't sleep through it. The most he'll do is 15 mins.
Is anyone else in my shoes? If so how do you deal with it?

I'm no expert but they do seem to get used to the noises that they hear on a regular basis. For example, we live one block from the firehouse so that siren is super loud and goes off several times a day. In the beginning I was so paranoid that it would wake her up but now she sleeps right through it and even I can't sleep through it. Also, for some reason, velcro used to wake her up. Whether it was the bib, or the opening of the breast pump and also doesn't bother anymore so he will get used to sounds that he hears on a regular basis.

He is 4 months old though. Maybe I did ruin it for him...
At his christening he took catnaps...that's it. He could not sleep through the noise of a party.
He's a light sleeper so I just don't know how to get him used to loud noises.

I am a real firm believer that you should not tip toe and be extra quiet around a baby. I find that if they are accustomed to every day noise, be it from a the house, street, airplanes, trains, etc. they just tune it out. Both my kids are excellent sleepers and have slept through DH banging things in the house, me packing the dishwasher clanging dishes, the cars zipping up the street, the neighbors barking dogs, etc.

Right now its the environment hes used to. He's home most of the day in a quiet house.
wait till you start going out more, taking him to places, etc. he WILL adjust to life. trust me, my boys fall asleep within 60 seconds of being in the car if theyre tired enough as much as toddlers DONT want to sleep.
So to fix the problem, GO OUT !!
I dont think thats alot to ask!

dd is a terrible napper in general and will usually only sleep for 30 minutes, occassionally a loud noise will wake her sooner and there really is nothing I can do. I take her everywhere and just deal with it.

Give yourself a break, you didn't ruin your baby. Some kids are just light sleepers and there is nothing you can do about it but hope they grow out of it.
We live on a very busy city street, with constant hum of traffic, sirens, car horns etc. Our dining room is next to her bedroom. I didn't shield her from the noise. She still gets woken up.
As she got older I would leave her for a few minutes to fall back asleep on her own, which works if she hasn't slept enough.
You'll figure it out!!

Yes I also agree-I always took Jenna out to get used to surroundings, noise, people, etc...

I agree here! There are some habits that parents create in their own children and not being able to sleep through the noise is one of them. I should know because Dh and i are guilty of tipy toeing around when Benji was sleeping every since he was born and he is now a very light sleeper.
Perhaps you can slowly try to teach him out of it by introducing some background noises during him naps. At 4 months, it is very doable!
