I just need to share this story.....
My 89 year old grandma who will be married to my grandpa for 65 years this September (god-willing)... does not drive. Well, as you all know my grandpa is in the hospital... and instead of waiting for my dh or I to drive her, she has now found another way.... she takes 3 BUSES to get there! YEP>>> YOU HEARD THAT RIGHT>>>>3 DIFFERENT BUSES! NEVER MIND THE FACT THAT SHE WALKS ABOUT 4 blocks to get to the bus stop... and she has rheumatoid arthritis! Its amazing what love can do! Just thought I'd share!
ETA to say- we tell her not to do this! We offer to pay for a cab! And we always pick her up at night! Dont want you all to think we're mean! LOLOL

You should call the MTA. They offer a service called Able Ride (on LI) and Access-a-Ride (in the city) for people that need to get places and have trouble using public transportation.
ETS: that is a very endearing story! I admire your grandma! Your grandfather is a very lucky man!

I actually did apply for Able Ride for her... we are waiting on the application status... takes like 15 days... thanks though!
