question about car seats/ infant seats?

Ok i am totally clueles about this my sil has the frame thing and then the piece that goes in it that she then puts in her car and brings in the house as well now you can get an car seat or a special kind for the frame thing?Also when do the kids move in to a regular car seat?
Sorry i am just sooo confused.

That's okay I was confused about this too.

Usually most infant carrier/car seats like the Graco Snug Ride fit into those stroller frames.

Each infant carrier has it's own weight & height restrictions so it depends on the infant seat you get but my Graco, for example, was 22lbs and 29 inches. Most babies will outgrow one or both of those limits around 6 - 7 months of age. That's when you get a convertible (aka Infant-to-toddler) car seat that can be mounted rear facing and later on foward facing. Those are pricey... anywhere from $100 - $300.

But they must remain in a rear facing carseat until they are over 20lbs AND 1 year old (both limits must be reached before they can be forward facing).
