anyone here work in the public schools NOT as teacher but office position?

wondering if you're required to take a civil service exam and if so, what civil service exam? clerk typist?

My sil works in a public school...she was a secretary and needed to take certain classes for required credits...I will ask her and find out...

(Is that what you mean?)

For most positions, a civil service test was required. I worked for a school district for three years. I was a programmer and was a provisional appointment until there was a test. There never was a test and I left the job before it came up. I left 7 years ago.

thanks, just curious about getting into anything admin/office... I know someone that took the civil service and just got an office job in the athletic dept. but she wasn't exactly sure either Chat Icon

Also, check out the Civil Service website (I don't remember it) but they had a list of when and what tests are available. Some job openings too but I don't remember schools.

Yup - Also, the Civil Service test is used by local governments - towns, villages, fire departments, etc.

Yes, you'll need to take a civil service exam to work in most school districts (in the office). I'm pretty sure you'll need to take the "Clerk Typist" test.
