Feeling blue

I am so frustrated with my job hunt. I finished my Masters and am looking for a teaching job for the fall. In the meantime, I wanted to sub and filled out apps in 3 districts THREE WEEKS AGO and no calls yet! I applied to Huntington Learning Center and Oxford and NOTHINGChat Icon I went to school and worked hard and now, I cannot even get a part time or subbing job. I am sick of being home and not working, and I don't know what to do. I feel so down and frustratedChat Icon

Re: Feeling blue

Did you check out NYtimes.com. They always have tons of teaching jobs. Also a couple of my friends got the names and contact info for the principals at various districts and mail or fax them a copy of your resume and Cvr letter

Thanks, I have applied to everything online and in the Times. Both of my parents teach so they handed resumes in for me in their districts and some of my friends have done the same for me in theirs. I know the fall is far off so I have not given up hope yet it is just soooo frustrating in the mean time!

I'm sorry, Daniela. Chat Icon What about private tutoring? Would you be willing to do other kinds of work in the meantime?

Definitely, I would tutor. I dropped off my resume to some guidance counselors in the area but nothing.

Daniela, I'm sorry you are feeling annoyed & frustarted! I know it can be hard. I'm kinda of in the same boat. I'm looking for a job in VA. and have been to a few interviews that have gone very well, but no ne hires me. Keep your head up & stay positive. How about you post on the career board? Maybe soemthing will come up. Did you try careerbuilder.com in Newsday? Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Hm... What about getting your resume professionally done? I remember a poster asking about it, and someone else responded that it made a big difference in their job search.

I hated job hunting too!
Heres an outlet for you for now...
sunysb.edu
go under jobs they are looking for teachers for their childcare unit. $ is probably around 30k which may **** but would probably be ok while you venture out for something else. Also try computer associates. They have positions and they also have childcare for your own children if any and a gym employees can workout in. I heard benefits are great! I hope this helps. Even if its temp...at least its in your field for future references. Good Luck!
