Woo-Hoo!! The stray cat went to his NEW HOME today!
8/27/06 - Final Update Hi everyone!! I want to share a very happy update with you! My husband and I ended up fostering the stray cat for a little over a week so he could get all of his vet care and be safe indoors. After emailing everyone I know, someone I work with ended up taking an interest in him! She and her family picked him up today and he has arrived in his new home, safe and sound. I am SO HAPPY!!! Thank you all so much for your help and suggestions! You ladies are the best!!
7/31/06 Update I think you ladies are right. This poor kitty was abandoned by his family. Since my last update he has been pretty much living on DH's co-workers deck and has been getting dirtier by the day. No replies to the "found cat" flyers. Still no room at local shelters (I did try Grateful Paws too, thanks for the suggestion.) He clearly wants to go into DH's co-worker's house and it's breaking her heart that she can't let him in.
Please spread the word about this sweet, loving cat who needs a good home. We will pay for him to be neutered, vaccinated and vet checked.
Thank you!!!
7/21/06 Update Okay, I just got some more pics of the stray cat sent to me. (I'll attach them below.) I can't help but think - he looks too darn Clean to be a stray!!
What do you ladies think?
Yes, he is wearing a pink collar (without tags), so someone was obviously caring for him at some point - but, if he was living on the street, shouldn't his white fur be all dirty and matted?
I also found out that he is an un-neutered boy (yes, a boy w/ a pink collar, who would have guessed). And, he has fleas. So, if he is being cared for, they're not doing too good of a job.
DH's co-worker is going to try to attach a note to his collar to see if anyone will claim him and will also post "found cat" ads in local shelters.
7/17/06 My DH's co-worker has a Super friendly stray cat in her neighborhood. The cat Loves people. It will rub up against your leg, purrs, loves to be pet and meows for food. Really, really sweet.
She put 50-100 "found cat" flyers in mailboxes in her neighborhood and so far no one has claimed the poor kitty.
All the shelters she's called have said the same thing. They are all filled (including Little Shelter, Bidawee, Kat Connection, Kent, and The Perfect Kitty). It's kitten season and not even the kittens are getting adopted. A town shelter will most likely euthanize the cat. She has been advised to just keep feeding the cat outside until Sept. when people are back from vacation, start adopting again, and when space at a no kill shelter frees up. The problem is, her landlord (she lives in an apartment), wants the cat gone as of last week.
Does anyone know of any no kill shelter with room?
Does anyone know of someone who might be interested in adopting a super sweet stray kitty?
Thank you all for your help! Image Attachment(s):

Thanks for the suggestion!
Sigh, I just called them and they're filled too.
The lady at North Shore suggested calling Pets 911 (1-888-738-7911), but the automated system was no help in locating no kill shelters with vacancies.

Re: Update and Question: Is this cat really a stray?
i don't think she is a stray. You never know people are so mean to animals maybe her family left her or ditched her. When my uncle moved into his house the people left their cat. So sad!!

Re: Update and Question: Is this cat really a stray?
someone definitely owns or owned the cat at somepoint. if its very friendly and has a flea collar, someone was taking care of it.
Im surprised the Little Shelter was full. that was going to be my suggeston.
Good luck!

my thought is it is not a stray. Little Shelter has been full for a while unfortunately. Try Grateful Paws maybe?

Re: Update: He is definitely homeless
What a beautiful cat! I WISH I could take him- I love tuxedo cats. I've emailed friends in NY to see if anyone is interested.
I second the Craigslist listing. Also, maybe try putting up flyers listing him for adoption and his situation. He's such a pretty cat, SOMEONE will fall in love with him....
Good luck! Amy

We are a non-profit, no-kill facility. We house up to 60 animals at a time. All dogs and cats are in a home like setting and are loved by our volunteers all day. Our dogs enjoy their obedience training and love to go for long walks or just play fetch in our large fenced in area. Cats have a special room just for them. It is cozy and away from all the barking that goes on. We are supported solely on public donations and are presently raising funds to expand out shelter and open a much needed spay/neuter clinic. Donations are always appreciated. Volunteers are always needed too! If you have an hour a week to spare, won't you come make some new friends?

Re: Update: He is definitely homeless
Thank you all for your suggestions! You ladies are awesome!
I thought the Craigslist suggestion was great and immediately emailed DH's co-worker about it. Turns out she already posted one 2 weeks ago with no replies. (BTW, I was looking today and there are sooooo many pets in need of a home posted on Craigslist. So heartbreaking.)
I left a message at Save-a-Pet. Their anwering machine said if I don't get a call back in two days it means they are full.
I did make up flyers and have been giving them to co-workers, family and friends to spread the word. The more people who hear about him, the better! If anyone would like to post a flyer in their office, etc., please FM me and I will gladly email you a copy!
I am determined to find this sweet cat a home, and will keep you all posted!
Thanks again!!
