Bath time
Joseph's umbilical cord came off last week but I'm so reluctant to give him a full blown bath yet - it seems so soon! We do a sponge bath before bedtime now - how old was your baby when you started bath time?

i was afraid too. I waited a week after the cord came off and man was she dirty. (gook in her folds and stuff). I guess my sponge baths were not all that thorough

My Mom gave her, her first bath the day her belly button fell off. I was too insecure and wanted her to show me.

She got her first real bath at 12 days old. It was fine and she did really well.

Alex was born in Ireland and they gave him a full bath the day he was born and then each night in the hospital we gave him a full bath. He was fine, no problems and we continued with the bath at home as well. Although, not everyday.

I'm so terrible. I know you meant the cord, but I couldn't help cracking up, because I was picturing a little belly button just flopping off. Sorry to laugh

It took 3 weeks for Salvatore's cord to fall completely off. I gave him a bath the very next day. Now I do it every other day as part of his bedtime routine.

doesnt' the doctor say they can have a full bath right after the cord comes off? that's what mine said, so that's what we did!
