I have a great list but on my PC at home - I can try to post later. It was for me, the dad and the baby.

Packing List

I forgot to pack my own shampoo and conditioner and I didn't have any in the hospital room. And I don't think you need your own nightgown or pjs -- I was so tired I never changed out of my hospital gown. A robe is key though.

I didn't see pillow on this list, I brought my own in a colored pillowcase. I'm glad I did, the hospital pillows weren't comfortable.

I wish I'd brought my own towel. one day they didn't have one clean towel on the maternity ward, and gave me a blanket to use instead.

Cell phone charger

Robe with zipper... I got a terry clothe one from JCPenney and it is so comfy. Makes it easy to BF and is great to wear around the house when you get home.

Bring an extra pillow for DH incase you have a long labor so he can sleep.

Just to add to the list - WATER!!!!! Of course the hospital gives you the little pitcher but I like my Poland Spring.

Also I brought snacks, nutra grain bars, stuff like that for when I got hungry and if DH got hungry he'd have something to munch on.

Re: Moms - do you have a "pack for the hospital" list?

Here is what I had collected from many online sites. I added my own comments because I had sent this to my expecting SIL.

To pack in my bag:
·Birth plan -did not use
·Glasses
·For labor - A bathrobe, nightgown, slippers, and a couple of pairs of socks. Hospitals offer a hospital gown during your labor or if your own - choose something loose and comfortable that you don't mind getting ruined. You'll need to wear a gown so that your practitioner can check your cervix, short/loose sleeves -- get your blood pressure checked easily. Own slippers and robe for walking around during the early stages of labor.
I just wore the hospital gown- couldn’t imagine wearing my own stuff with what’s going on. I didn’t walk around at all –I w as on too many iv’s and monitors.

·For after labor, bathrobe, nightgowns/pjs (2-3), more socks, slippers.

·2-4 bras

·3-6 pairs of maternity underwear. Chances are, whatever underwear you do wear the first few days will become stained, even with sanitary pads (the hospital usually provides pads, but you can bring your own if you want). – they give you these mesh undies in the hospital – they are kind of like the tops of panty hose – except not restricting – I used those and had no issue with them – but after a day or two I switched to regular (full backed undies - I liked low rise regular undies rather than maternity undies). I hear if you get a c-section – big high rise undies work better because of the incision.

·Something to read, Music, an extra pillow, whatever you need to help you relax.

·Picture of someone or something you love, anything you feel brings you luck.
·Hard candy
·Snacks. After labor - crackers, granola bars, change for the vending machines.
·Pony tail holders, brush, hair spray
·Toiletries. Toothbrush/toothpaste, lip balm, deodorant, soap, shampoo/conditioner, lotion, makeup
·Towel
·Your own pillow glad I brought this
·Watch
·A going-home outfit. Bring something roomy and easy to get into — believe it or not, you'll probably still look 5 or 6 months pregnant. I brought low rise sweats that I wore throughout my pregnancy and a maternity t-shirt and sneakers

To pack for DH:
·A watch with a second hand to time your contractions.
·Toiletries toothbrush/toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant. Dh didn't need
·A change of clothes DH didn't need
·Some snacks
·Something to read during the early stages.
·A camera / video camera and film or tape or a memory card and batteries.
·Cell phone (charged!!)
·List of important phone numbers
·Money
·Copy of Hospital Documents
·Insurance Information

To pack for baby:
·An infant car seat, bundle me (winter)
·A going-home outfit
·A receiving blanket (a heavy one if the weather's cold)
·Socks/booties
·T-shirt
·Hat
·Baby nail clippers or emery board didn’t use

Other:
·Gifts for nurses
·Baby Book for footprints – so mad we forgot this – but they gave us footprints on a paper the hospital uses for this. [/i]

Re: Moms - do you have a "pack for the hospital" list?

I have this list if you are interested of things to have in the house after baby is born...some is too much but use your judgement...

To have in house after the baby is born:

Me:
·Maxi/pads, pantyliners
·Night gowns/comfy pjs
·Comfy underwear
·Breast pads
·Sports bra – something with support

Medicine cabinet: - I got most of this at my shower
·Digital thermometer
·Infants' non-aspirin liquid pain reliever (acetaminophen or ibuprofen)
·Rubbing alcohol
·Petroleum jelly
·Antibacterial ointment
·Diaper cream
·Tweezers
·A pair of sharp scissors
·A pair of safety manicure scissors
·Pediatrician-approved children's-strength liquid decongestant
·Nasal aspirator bulb syringe for drawing mucus out of a stuffy nose
·An assortment of adhesive bandage strips in various sizes and shapes.
·Gauze rolls (1/2 to 2 inches wide), Gauze pads (2x2 and 4x4 inches)
·Adhesive tape
·Sterilized cotton balls
·Cotton-tipped swabs
·Mild liquid soap
·Baby shampoo
·Baby moisturizing cream to help soothe your baby's skin
·Baby Wipes – got tons at my shower – I wouldn’t buy cases until you see what works with your baby. I just bought a case of Huggies and hate them – leave lint on the baby
·A medicine dropper, oral syringe, or calibrated cup or spoon)
·A package of tongue depressors to check sore throats – I didn’t get this – I will leave to the dr
·A heating pad
·A hot-water bottle and ice pack – I didn’t get this
·A small flashlight to check ears, nose, throat, and eyes – ???
·First-Aid manual. The American Red Cross's Standard First Aid & Personal Safety gives detailed advice for handling both minor and major emergencies

Baby:
·Onsies, Undershirts, PJ's – soft fabrics, wide necks, button up pj's,etc.
·One-piece pajamas/nightgowns/sleepers (4-7) – drawstrings on bottom are useful for nighttime changing – I LOVE these.
·Fleece Outerwear/Sweater/Jacket (1-2)
·Socks/booties (4-7)
·Hats (3)
·Diapers
·Receiving blankets, swaddling blankets
·Blankets/warm blankets
·Hooded bath towels
·Wash clothes
·Burp Clothes

Other:
·Easy to prepare meals
·Snack/Food for visitors
·Thank you cards
·Stamps
·Birth Announcements – start looking for ideas early – will make things easier.
