Every year rent increases, the price of metro cards/LIRR/Metro North/gas/property taxes/health insurance costs go up. Chat Icon Is your salary keeping up?

No. Once we got a "cost of living" increase but never again.

Even though we get a raise every year, nope, it's not enough to keep up with how much cost of living goes up.

somewhat yes...I think I make a pretty decent amount more then when I started 5 years ago at my current job. OF OCURSE its not enough to me...but if I think about HOW much it is...its a good "cost of living" increase......although a lot of my increases have been more merit then cost of living...

No way! Now, given, the district i'm moving to next year did give a significant increase last year to try to help teachers keep up a bit (average of $4,000 depending on your place on the pay scale)... but it still barely keeps up... Especially in nortern VA... where the apartment we're looking to rent is going up nearly $1100 Chat Icon

I'd have to say $4,000 is pretty good when I will only be getting $1,200/yr.
