My friend is pregnant and it is kinda like a miracle pregnancy
I don't want to get into details, but it is a true blessing and miracle.
I want to get them something, I was thinking of a savings bond for the unborn baby because she is a planner and I know she would appreciate funds towards her baby's future.
Can I do savings bond towards an unborn baby?

Maybe start with a journal so she can write to the baby all her feelings of this miracle? Sometimes the most appreciated gift has very little to do with money.
When the child is born you can add to his college fund, he/she will have 18 years for that. I'd do something for mommy (jmo)

 I'm sure we'd all would have loved to known what our mothers thought as they were pregnant with us. I know I would have!

I like the journal idea a lot. My FSIL just found out shes PG. Me and DH bought a basket and filled it with baby name books, PG journal, calendar, and a whole bunch of PG related books and a pregnancy candle etc and she loved it.

Love Elbee's idea. Of course, I am also very superstitious when it comes to these things so especially in the case of a miracle pg, I wouldn't buy a gift for the baby until he/she is born.
Also - a friend of mine gave me the cutest thing when I was PG - a pregnancy calendar. You basically fill in the dates of the 9 months for your pregnancy and it comes with all these cute stickers that say things like "Felt the baby move for the first time", "Lots of kicks today", "Tired today", etc etc. Then it has a space for you to write everything that happened at that month's Dr visit.
It's very similar to the journal idea so you can give it in combination. She can write detailed notes in her journal and have fun with the stickers on the calendar plus keep track of exact dates that pregnancy milestones happened.

Can't you just wait until the baby is born?
Put some money away every day (or whatever) and you'll be able to invest in something really good in a little while.

I actually think it is a great idea and I have been told at the bank always that you can even use your own SS# if you do not know the baby's or it's parents'. I have done this for family.
