whats the best way to pack dishes, glasses, etc.
bubble wrap? newspaper?

ditto. Although this time we moved I splurged aand got the roll of styrofoam from U-Haul.

Go to the dollar store and get those zip up plastic protective covers for dishes- in between them you place a plastic piece the shape of the dish the glass ones come with a cardboard separater- and then when you place in box- put bubble wrap in between each zipped up package- we didnt have not 1 broken china/dish piece!!!!

That's a good idea. I already kept my dishes in those china savers as I don't have a cabinet yet.

We used Bubble Wrap and it worked out great. For the fine china (the stuff we never use ) , I moved it myself.
