spinoff to daycare question--when
do you need to start calling these places to find out if there's a waitlist and get on it. I mean, did you call them in advance of the birth and if so, at one point during your pregnancy did you start calling around? TIA!
Stole this question off a response to the other thread, but I think it's really important and I wanted to make sure people noticed it and responded. thanks, bethsiar, for making me realize that I need to be thinking about this early.

Re: spinoff to daycare question--when
I am 33 weeks and am due 12/5. I want to take 16 months maternity leave, and I am starting to look now. Most places are telling me for a March or April start date I should make a decision by January.

Re: spinoff to daycare question--when
I told my daycare #1 in March that I was due in October. He got in the FOLLOWING September a few weeks shy of his 1st birthday.
Since I knew that daycare #1 had a waiting list, I called daycare #2 and got on their list 2 months in advance without a problem. They were about $200/mo more expensive than daycare #1 which could account for low waiting period.

Re: spinoff to daycare question--when
I booked mine in January and she was born in April and didn't start daycare until Sept. It was my first and really only choice so I wanted to make sure I got in there!

Thanks so much for starting this post! I was just looking for any responses on the other thread and saw this one and thought "Oh good, someone else is going to ask so I can find out" lol
Thanks again!
