Two Questions...

1. It's been almost 4 weeks since I had my AFP. I didn't hear anything from the Dr. Does that mean everything was OK? Would they tell me or would they wait until I went back for my next appointment (which is this Thursday)?

2. How long does a Level II take? I am going tomorrow at 3:30, when do you think we will be out of there by?

Re: Two Questions...

Yes, if you havent gotten a call yet I would assume all was ok but you can find out for sure at your next appt.

The level II takes 30 mins-1 hr

Re: Two Questions...

My doctor usually doesn't call if the results are fine. Only if there is a problem. So that may be the case.

Our level II took about 45 mins.

Re: Two Questions...

1. I would think that after 4 weeks, all is ok with your AFP results. If it came back with a positive for anything, I'm sure your doctor would have called you, since normally they'd discuss proceeding with further testing in that case, etc.

I know my doctor's office told me from day one that they "do not call unless something is wrong' so when I didn't hear from them after my AFP, I figured all was ok. And at my next appointment they went over everything and told me the same thing -

2. It will depend on how cooperative your little one is tomorrow as to how long you're Level 2 will take! I think we were done in 45 mintues tops - but our Chat Icon spread his legs pretty quickly Chat Icon and he was relatively cooperative in terms of the technician getting all the correct measurements and checking out his organs, etc. BUT I've also heard it sometimes can take well over an hour or more depending on your baby Chat Icon If he/she is being particularly difficult, sometimes they'll just have you come back another day..

{{COOPERATION VIBES}} to you tomorrow! Have fun!! Chat Icon

I agree unless the baby doesn't behave then you will have to go back.

Re: Two Questions...

1. No news is good news in the medical world so I wouldn't really worry.
2. Depends on where you are going for your Level II. I went to Madonna Perinatal and I think the wait for the sono took longer than the actual sono Chat Icon

I agree with all the prior posters. If they didn't call, assume everything is ok. I give you credit though, I always ask how long the results take and call to find out myself!!! I'm impatient and must know everythingChat Icon

I went for my level II and little Hannah was very cooperative I was done in 20 minutes!!!

ETA: GOOD LUCK!!!Chat Icon

Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon I hate to worry about things before there is something to worry about. TTYTT, I forgot about the AFP until my mom asked about the results Chat Icon

That's what made me ask about the Level II. I didn't expect to see you on so quickly this morning with your results Chat Icon
