repost from parenting board..maybe

you can help over here..im having a labor day party and last year's party we had so many kids here..we didnt expect it..but friends families came and i didnt have anything for them to do..can anyone give me some suggestions on what games to play or things to do for them? the majority of the ages are 2-4..but there are also 7mos. and 12yr olds..i dont know anything about this stuff..TIA!!

I was recently at a party with a TON of kids, and all of a sudden our friend whipped out a bunch of craft stuff. Ya know those foamy, colorful shapes you find in a tub at the craft store? She had those, and rocks, etc and they were gluing them on and making little crafts with them. It was so cute and the kids were instantly mesmerized. This would probably work well for kids ages 3-8ish.

ETA - Hmmm for the 12 year olds? Not really sure... they are so difficult to entertain sometimes because they are "too cool" for a lot of things (lol...). What if you had set games? Pinata? I'm not sure how big your yard is or if you have a pool, but maybe some of those old fashioned games would work.
