Windows....

when you first moved into your house, what did you do with your windows before you can install blindes and window treatments?
(I do not want to cover them with a sheet! Chat Icon )

Re: Windows....

My mom gave us some paper shades that she bought in the city for a room that we didn't have blinds up in.

Re: Windows....

buy cheapo black-out shades or horizontal blinds. both are easy to hang.

The previous homeowners left the blinds on (I was under the impression that they had to), we used them until we got our own.

Re: Windows....

most of the windows had the blinds left in, but a lot of the rooms reaked of smoke, so we threw most of them out... the only room that i was concerned about having blinds up in was the bedroom, and we just used a sheet until we got our blinds... personally, we couldnt afford to put up cheap blinds, until we picked what we really wanted...

if i were to ever move again, i would take window measurements when we did the walk through, and have my blinds ready to go the day we moved in!

Re: Windows....

We had the paper ones, bought them at Bed Bath & Beyond. They actually look like regular blinds, except they are paper. They are around $5-6 each and come with plastic clips to open them up if you want. They come in 2 different sizes, and you can just cut them if neither size works for the window.

We had these for a year until we got regular blinds.

Re: Windows....

My previous homeowner left all the window treatments (drapes, rods, etc.)

They don't look too bad so we decided to keep them (for now).

Re: Windows....

We lived on paper shades for awhile. To be honest they didn't look too bad. We got them at home depot. very easy to install ( they just stick), and very cheap!

Re: Windows....

We went to WalMart and got cheap vinyl blinds. They were about $3.50 per window.

Re: Windows....

I didn't know about these paper shades.....I'll have to look into them since I have a flannel sheet over my living room window and most of my smaller windows are nekkid!
