Question about 1 hour Glucose test - I have it in the morning

I have my 1hr Glucose test tomorrow morning.
My doctor's office told me to fast after 12midnight...but I remember reading on here that a lot of you didn't fast.

I'm worried because my sugar is low to begin with (I'm hypoglycemic) and if I don't eat at all in the morning, I think I'm going to fail.

They told me I could choose to fast, or just eat something light before the test. I didn't eat anything since I had the test done really early in the morning, but I know a lot of people did and were fine.

I would just eat something low on the glycemic index that won't spike your blood sugar much (like something with more protein than carbs)

I would call and tell them that. It seems each office has different rules. I was told to eat before I went in, preferably protein and no sugar. I passed, thank God! Best of luck to you!

Also when you fill out the form at the lab before the test, they ask you if you fasted or not-- so I guess they take that into account when looking at your results?

What do you guys think I could eat that has more protein and less sugar/carbs? Im going there at 7:30am...so I dont feel like cooking breakfast LOL

Well, eggs are good-- but you have to cook those, which I wouldn't want to do either right before running out for a test! How about hard-boiling one the night before?

A glass of milk will be filling but will not spike your blood sugar, if milk is appealing in the morning.

A handful of nuts or sunflower seeds.

OK I can do milk and a hard boiled egg - thanks! I have to bring something with me too because I just have a feeling my sugar is going to crash after I drink that stuff...

I had mine this morning.

My doctor told me not to eat anything for 4 hours before the test. I opted to have it first thing in the morning and I didn't eat since dinner last night.

My doctor told me that I could fast if I wanted to but she prefers that I eat something before the test. I ate eggs that morning before the 1hr test and failed.
I just took the 3 hr test this past Saturday and for that one you definitely have to fast. I hope I passed. I will get my results this saturday at my appt.

Not sure what the right thing to do is, some ate and passed others fasted and passed. Everyone is different.

ETA: Choose the orange drink, it was ok to drink. I had that one for the one hr.
Now that I went for the 3 hr, I drank the coke one...YUCK! I could barely get it down.

I have my 1-hour on Thursday morning at 10:30. My doc said don't eat anything immediately before the test, but I could have breakfast at like 7:30 a.m. and be fine. I'll probably just sleep in late and not eat!

I was told to eat a normal breakfast and lunch and then nothing else after that, and had my test at 4:30.

I would fast at least a few hours before the test. I think my MD made me fast 1 hour (I had an apple and hour before) and failed. Also the drink should elevate your sugar, not drop it.

Hi girls, I decided to fast so I had dinner last night and that was it til this morning when I drank that juice at 10am for the test. They took my blood again at 11am and I'll find out tomorrow if I passed or failed.

I felt my sugar spike up high and then on the way home it crashed (which I had a feeling it would), luckilly I brought a banana and a chocolate bar with me.

If I failed this test, I have to take a THREE hour test next

positive thinking!!! i'm sure it went better than you expected!!! at least you only have to wait until tomorrow!!!! i'll keep my fingers crossed for you!!!

I had a scrambled egg and cheese on an english muffin and passed. Let us know the results.
