eBay Question for a beginning seller...
I'm new to selling on eBay (VERY new) and was wondering how the whole shipping thing works.
Is it better to calculate my own shipping charges or to let the buyers do it?
I have been doing it myself.
I'd appreciate any help!!!

Both are fine- if you have a pretty good idea of what the shipping will cost, then put it in yourself. Otherwise, calculating is fine too- it's easy if you have a small scale to know the weight and it will calculate according to zip code.
After you sell a while, you get a good idea of what the shipping cost will be(especially if your selling the same type of items).
I always use USPS priority(unless it's a really small item). It works well for me

I do a flat rate depending on the size of the item
I like to make back some of the fees also in the shipping and "handleing" cost
I spend money on boxes and bubble wrap and it adds up

Same here. I bought a 50-lb postal scale off ebay for $20 and package and weigh my items and then the buyer pays the cost based on the weight I put in and their zip code.
I know I am NOT going to bid on something if a seller if going to charge me $8 to ship when it costs $3 to mail. That's why I do it the way I do.

Exactly!!
I wont bid on something (unless its something I MUST have) if the seller charges a flat rate....to me thats just a way to jack up the shipping costs!!
