You have to wait for the ok from the pediatrician and then they usually have you switch over to milk very slowly.

Re: When does bottle feeding end?

Yes.

Your dr. will tell you when to start them on milk my doctor had me do it slowly he had me start the milk at 10 months and do 1/2 milk and 1/2 formula then slowy add more milk gradually.

I took my DD off the bottle at 10 months I switched to the NUBY sippy cups they have a soft top. but for juices and water I give her a sippy cup that has a straw or a hard top.

Re: When does bottle feeding end?

see, every doctor is different, cause my pediatrian told me to just switch from the formula over to whole milk cold turkey. he said if he didnt respond to the whole milk well then we will go back and slowly wean him from the formula, but if he drank the milk no problem. that was it. not sure if that answered the question, as for the actual bottle. yeah i started to wean both kids off it at about one year old.

Re: When does bottle feeding end?

My daughter had a problem with the smallest amount of milk. I guess it took her body a while to get used to it.

My kids were switched from formula to whole milk at 9 months. Cold turkey, but it didn't phase them one bit.

Re: When does bottle feeding end?

When Michael turned a year old I was told to gradually give him milk - little by little add an ounce to his formula - I did this slow only because I work and wanted to be with him when the milk was increased, anyway, he was on 6oz of milk to 2oz of formula when he got sick with the stomach virus and was put on lactaid instead - now we're back to increasing the whole milk again.

As for the bottles - I am in no rush to get rid of them at this point - he's only 14 months old, to me, that's still a baby Chat Icon

Michael will NOT have milk/formula if it is not warm - some kids will take it cold, Michael refuses the bottle altogether if it's cold - it pisses him off and he won't drink even after I've warmed it up... I don't mind - it's not that much of a pain

Is cold formula all the time good for their stomachs though?

I don't see how it would be bad for their stomachs it just preference for the most part.

Aidans formula wasn't cold from the fridge, it was always room temperature.

I stopped at a year. Mainly because I was pregnant and wanted to nip it early so he didn't think the baby's bottle was his.

Re: When does bottle feeding end?

I'm not sure when our peditrician will switch Joey to Milk. I will have to remeber to ask that next visit.

As for the bottles... Joey switch from bottles to the NUBY sippy cups at 6 monts old (he's going to be 7 months in a few days). He has done very well with it.

My doctor said there is no medical reason to warm up the milk, it's all preference. He said to try getting her to take it cold or room temp to make it easier on myself. Thankfully she will drink it that way!
