UPDATE: BAD NEWS Need Bayside, Queens Info! Found a home, but need more info..UPDATE ON HOUSE
So DH and are I found a house we really love in Bayside, however I'm not sure about the area, so if any Bayside grls can let me know that would be great!
It's near Cardozo HS, The Queens College is a few short blocks away, and the LIE service road is a house away....
any thoughts?

I live in Whitestone, but that area is BEAUTIFUL and a great place to live...FH & I were driving around there the other day looking at the beautiful homes...GOOD LUCK if you decide to go with it...

I like Bayside. For the most part, I think it's a nice area. Though I used to have a co-worker who lived near the Horace Harding Expwy and he had cars stolen from his driveway twice. I have heard that there is a high rate of car theft in Whitestone and Bayside (I used to live in Whitestone, and my car insurance was cut in half after I moved from Queens)

Queens College IS NOT near Cardozo it is in Flushing...Queens Boro is across from Cardozo...if it is Queens Boro then the neighborhood is nice...if its Queens College...I would say keep looking...thats the Flushing area...very congested

Like I said I live in Whitestone so I'm not too familiar with the zoning, but a co-worker of mine went to HS there and lives in Oakland Gardens right near there...if all you're landmarks are correct then she said that area is great...what street is it? Maybe she can pinpoint the area exactly...

I have lived in Bayside/Oakland Gardens/Hollis hills for many years.
I really love the area - its close to everything - shopping is great - I really really love it...
BUT - I am not so sure I would want to move to a house so close to the LIE. That is a personal preference.
Have you looked at Fresh Meadows at all? There are some nice houses there. Or Bayside HIlls.
THis woman is a great agent in the area...

Normall i wouldnt want to live that close to it either but thats how much we love the house, that it doesnt bother us.

Bebalina - I lived RIGHT THERE 59th/223rd for 4 years with my mom & sister. Its very nice over there!!! I love it. Close to shopping, buses, schools, etc. The HH didnt bother us....maybe I am weird but the sound of the highway lulls/soothes me to sleep very well!

I don't know too much about the area but we were thinking of living there at one time and went exploring. So many nice restaurants and bars! P.S. 26 is supposed to be fantastic- copngratulations!!

There is so much out there, somehting else will come along. BUt I would keep looking in that area. I live exactly on the other side of HH. It is a great area and the best school district in Queens (26). Sorry itdidnt work out, whats meant to be will be!!
