can you have dental work done while pregant?
I think i may have a cavity but how can they tell without doing xrays which they arent suppose to do during pregnancy right?

Yes, you can have dental work. A good dentist will be able to spot a cavity without x-rays. I had all sorts of work done while I was pregnant both times (2nd and 3rd trimesters), except I did not do x-rays. Defintiely go!!

yes. no xrays, and I'm not so sure about what anastetics are okay (i know i speeled that wrong! lol)

Oh yeah, I forgot the big thing my OB said - novocaine was fine, as long as it did not have epinephrine in it. The epinephrine is a stimulant and can cross the placenta. I did not notice a difference when I had the novocaine without the epi (when I had a wisdom tooth pulled!).

Yes I am a dental hygienist.....If they really need to take an xray(which they may to see how deep the decay goes) tell them to double lead apron you. Also call your OB and have them fax your DDS a letter with their rules and regs(all offices are different). Good Luck if you have any ?'s you can IM me.
