Anyone waiting till the baby comes to decorate the room?

I know a friend of mine who is Jewish is doing this because ot's a part of her culture. But I am not Jewish and I think DH would call me insane if I asked him to do this. My friend is having the room painted and decorated on the day(s) that she is delivering. I'm asking this because I am having a very hard time picking bedding not knowing what the sex of the baby is going to be. There's such cute gender specific bedding ensembles!!! And the bedding has so much to do with decorating the rest of the room! Chat Icon

I am!
I'm Jewish and yes, DH thinks I am nuts Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Not because I am jewish, because I am waiting to decorate the room! I also don't want to find out the s_x of the baby so I would have to wait anyway.

we are waiting also, we are jewish but that is not the reason. I didn't want yellow or green walls so we are painting after the baby comes and we picked out 2 sets of bedding.
We are getting our furniture delivered this week which is just a cherry wood color, goes with anything.

I am italian...we will paint the room, but nothing will be brought into my house from my shower and the furniture will not be delivered until after the baby is born....while we are in the hospital...

we will hopefully have everything done before the little one arrives. we know the sex and i can't decide on bedding to save my life! what i plan to do (as of now, because my mind changes daily) is have the room primarily green (rug) and yellow (walls) and accent it with pink with the bedding and other decorations.

this is exactly what our family does too except we don't believe in showering the baby with gifts until it is born...

ETS: I am such a planner and on bedrest, it's killing me!! We are prob going to break tradition cause all my fam lives on LI, we are CT, who knows who will be able to get up here and help out.

I waited to decorate my daughters room. I had a whole different idea in mind depending on the gender.

We have decorated the room already just to make out lives easier.. we are splitting our bedroom w/ her and I know if I waited till after she was born it would not feel and be the same..

Re: Anyone waiting till the baby comes to decorate the room?

I am also not finding out whether the baby is a boy or a girl. I picked a bedding pattern that I thought was gender neutral -- it has green, yellow and light purple in it, with some blue also. I was not going to paint the room until the baby was born. I am not going to paint the room light purple, green and yellow. I am keeping the bedding set on my registry, but I also just registered for another one with alot of pink in it and I will use whichever is appropriate. DH keeps telling people we can always change the color of the room if we need to once the baby comes. At least that thought came out of his head -- so when I suggest changing it, he won't flip his lid.
