Does anyone know of any homeless shelters or battered womens' shelters in Suffolk?
My office collected toys, toiletries, and little presents for the holidays, and we want to donate it to shelters. We made gift baskets for babies and adults. Does anyone know of any shelters in Suffolk where we can give donations? Preferably near Stony Brook, where I work.

Call SUNY Stonybrook's Social Work Program. They probably have some place that you can donate.

My Unitarian Fellowship is linked up with a shelter that helps women and children.
They, also, along with a few other religious organizations in the area, run a homeless shelter (on a rotating basis) for the migrant Latin American male workers of the area who otherwise would be sleeping in the woods this time of year and possibly freezing to death.
They are always looking for toiletries for the men.
If you want their info for toy donations or other items FM me.

Try contacting the Suffolk County League Against Domestic Violence.

VIBS-Victims Information Bureau of Suffolk will be able to help you, or you could just drop it at thier center in Hauppauge...www.vibs.org, or 631-360-3606 (24 hour hotline)....they most likely won't give you an address to a domestic violence shelter for safety precautions...I think it's really nice that your office is doing that!

Thanks everyone! Jeannie (HalloweenBride04) works for an agency that helps the homeless, so I think we've decided to donate to them!
