I am so UPSET
For weeks, I have been asking my husband to please upload all the pics of my son or put them on CDs so I can take them somewhere to print out. Well my lazy husband never did it and guess what--the computer crashed and I lost every picture of my son since he was born. I had thousands of them.
A word to the wise, make sure you have back-ups. I am so upset now no one can imagine.

Suggestion: Send out an email to everyone you may have sent a picture to so you can try to recover them.

 OMG! Are you sure they are gone??? What happened? How did it "crash"? You know you can take the hard drive to a data recovery specialist and there is a chance they can recover those pictures. Unless your harddrive literally melted or otherwise sustained physical damage there is HOPE. You should do that ASAP before you do anything to the drive (like reinstall the OS or ANYTHING). It'll cost some money but it's worth it!!
I hope you can get them back!

If you want I can see what company my company uses. I know that they dont charge you if they are unable to recover anything...than it's  but those pictures are priceless.

My Dad erased a lot of pictures from his memory card in his camera and we were able to recover all of them... I don't know if it's the same, but you might be able to recover them...
maybe a post on NFR? because I know there are a lot of people that are really good with computers

Did you upload any shutterfly or another photo site?
I agree with emaling everyone you sent them out too and also to see if someone can recover them off your hard drive.
Good Luck!! I would be devestated as well and totally want to ring DH's neck.

Ohhh I'd be soooo upset! But, listen to what the other girls said - take it to a specialist. That happened to me when I was in law school and in the middle of writing a 30 page paper. I was able to recover most of the items on my harddrive, including all my pics...

My DH already installed the OS. I am so mad, I told him the suggestions you ladies told me and he said it is already gone. He just does not understand how upset I am. I even organized all the pics into folders for all the months of his life. UGH I emailed everyone I know about sending me back the pics.

You should've heard the gasp that came out of me when I read that first line!  STILL, I say take it to a data recovery specialist. Now it's pretty much guaranteed you won't get ALL of them back, but you might still be able to recover some. Even if he FORMATTED the drive.
*** A word of advice to everyone who saves pictures on their computer***
It's a smart idea to run two harddrives. Almost all computers can accomodate this (maybe not a laptop) Keep your operating system on one drive (Windows), and your pictures and important files on the other. This way, if your operating system or the drive it's on crashes, it will not affect the drive with your pictures. You can get a pretty large drive for under $100.
However you do it (upload to Shutterfly, CD-Rs, USB drives, etc) just back up your pictures!

i formatted my pic card on my camera and lost all my pictures. someone on here suggested a data recovery website and I used it. It recovered most of my pictures. i hope it is simialr for computers...
