omg this is crazy that you said this my fmil is the worst cook ever!!!!!! last year she made baked ravioli and when it came out of the oven it was raw!!! i was starving. her turkey on thanksgiving lets just say spackle and drywall omg so nasty. I have no family here so i dont have a choice i guess being from a large sicilian family there was always a ton of yummy food, so not the case now!!!! i think i might eat before we leave the house...this stinks i always looked forward to the food on holidays now i dread it!!!

I'll usually bring a dish that I enjoy, because it's also a nice gesture, but I'll also swallow, grin and bear it with a few of their dishes.

I am a picky eater, so I always eat before I leave the house just in case.

I'm allergic to mushrooms and cinnamon, so I PRAY it has one of them in it and then I don't have to eat it. Otherwise I try to load up on salad and then act like "Wow, that was stupid of me, I'm not so hungry now."

My MIL is a great cook, but she makes many things that I just don't eat. She always tries to force me to eat them, so sometimes I'll try it (usually for th 5-7 time) or otherwise I'll just say "I don't like that." But no matter what, there's always plenty of food I do eat.
When we go to my mom's for holidays I never have any problems. She knows what I like and what I don't like, so even if she makes a dish that everyone else will eat but I won't, she always has something else for me and my sister- who's even pickier than me.

I usually choke down a few bites than play with the rest.

I eat before and then just pick at the food hoping that it looks like I am eating!

This is why Ihate having thanksgiving at my sister's MIL's house. Not only does she cook poorly- but she buys the worst shows when she caters it. There isusually one dish that I can eat so I just focus on that... or I say I am stuffed and/or not feeling well.

Usually I would bring something I like... but my MIL makes SO much food and would find that really rude. So I eat before and then pick

How about making it a pot luck dinner? Everyone brings so mething and no one has to suffer w/yucky food.

i normally fake a cold or jsut pick depends on where we are going we float on thanksgiving to everyones house.

Oh I so know what you mean two years ago I was at my inlaws for thanksgiving and hated the food now we have to go there again this year I didn't like her stuffing or the turkey there was no salads and no cranberry sauce for me to eat instead and fill up on and thats how it will be this year again I bet so I think I will have to make an excuse to go to the store and grab something to eat and just pick at my plate

I would eat before hand and bring a dish I enjoy eating and take very small portions of a couple things offered.

My brother hates my stepmothers cooking and he always stops somewhere beforehand to get some food to eat before he arrives there. Unless I am cooking something to bring there ...All her food is sooooooooooo dry!!!!! and bland.

My MIL and Mom are both good cooks. But usually I always offer to help who ever is making dinner that year. That way I can add my ideas, Mom and MIL awalys love the help. If your helping to cook, it's easier to have something that you like at the table. It works out good.

But if I am in a situation where I have to be at a place where I don't like the food, then I take a nice portion and eat it with a smile. The cook works hard, and I wound't want to hurt her feeling after she worked so hard.

Besides I'm no prize winning cook myself, so I totally understand when people get it wrong.

i make sure i go not hungry and pick at like salad and stuff she cant screw up and then pick up food on the way home
