OMG!!! We priced out a new front entrance door and with 2 sidelights we were quoted around $3000.

Please tell me this is an outrageous quote...

We're hoping that maybe Home Depot will be a lot less...Chat Icon

WE paid around $1400 back in 2001 and we got new front door, screen door and 2 sidelights to replace exisiting. We had Home Depot do it. I have pics if you want to see.

Yeah, Id have to say $3000 is a lot for a new door even with side lites. My DH installed a new door and a sidelite for $400 (not including door or hardware)

We went to Elegant Entries and the door we liked was $2000 and the same exact one in home depot for $429. That is crazy!

Well I think it helps that DH is going to hang it himself but even if you hired someone just to do that... it would have to be cheaper than $2000.

Doesnt it depend too on what the door is made of?

Yes, fiberglass is more expensive then steel. Plus, once you add the sidelight the price more than doubles. Also the price varies for special orders. Everything in our house is for some reason. Our house was built with 2x3s instead of 2x4s.

I would have agree..my quote for my front door in fiberglass was $2500 without sidelights. We shopped it, that's what it costs.

Depends on the door too and if they install it.

The steel is better for security than the fiberglass BUT it isnt as good at all for insulation purposes because stell is a conductor. We are going with a steel side door and fiberglass front door.

Have you noticed that the most popular door is that one with the fan shaped glass on top. It seems like EVERYONE has that door. Its also the one we are getting for the side entrance.
