Sylvan or Huntington Learning Centers

I'm looking to get a part-time job in either Huntington or Sylvan Learning Centers as a tutor. I've been a high school teacher for over 10 years and have lots of experience with at-risk and special ed students. Does anyone know what the official job title is - part-time instructor, or tutor? I'm writing a cover letter and hopefully will go directly to the places tomorrow to drop off my cover letter and resume. Also, should I ask to speak to the person in charge of hiring? Another question: Since I don't have a specific name of anyone working at these facilities, how should I address the cover letter - Personel Director? I know to use "Sir/Madam" or "To Whom It May Concern" is wrong in this situation.

I worked at Sylvan for a while, I think the title was either "teacher" or "instructor". I would ask for the person in charge of hiring. At the center where I worked, there was a Director, and a couple of assistant directors. Go tomorrow - I know the one where I worked was closed on Fridays and Saturdays were a zoo!

Thanks for the info. I didn't think of Saturday being busy, though I can imagine why. I'm definitely going tomorrow afternoon.

I have a friend who worked at Huntington for a few years and the pay was not great. I'm sure you could make more money doing private tutoring - is that an option?

i am doing the kaplan traingin right now for sat courses....i will soon be teaching them....i think it is a great p/t job!
