Gift Suggestion for a 70 year old woman..
My moms friend ( who im not very close with) her husband is giving her a surprise 70th birthday party in a restaurant end of August.
They invited my, DH and both my children..
I have NO idea what I would get...
Gift card?
My mom cant think of any particular stores she shops in so I have no clue what she likes.
What are some types of gifts besides gift cards that ANY woman would like. ( keep in mind again shes turning 70)

Gift certificate to her hair salon, nail places, etc. (My grandmother is over 90 and gets her both done just about every week  )
Something for her house...frames or albums, serving dish, silk floral arrangement, Monogramed bath towels

my grandma is 82 and loves shower/bath stuff & lotions....
She also likes candles, cookbooks, magazines...
Maybe your mom can find out is she likes cooking, they have a lot of montlhy cooking magazines/mini books

What is she like? 70 really isn't that old anymore (for some people). My Mom and her friends are in their 70's. When the last one had a birthday, we gave her a gift certificate to Sports Authority. She runs marathons and is a work out fanatic. Another one, I gave an Amazon.com gift certificate.
If you are really stuck, how about a gift certificate to a nice restaurant with a couple of movie passes?

Did her husband serve in any war? We got a friend of the family a beautiful flag case to display the American flag with an engraving of her husbands name and when he served for her 75 birthday. She was in tears when she opened it.

We recently got a Family Tree program for a friend who turned 80, but she likes using the computer and email. We just have to set it up for her, but I think she really liked it.

DH's Uncle is throwing his Godmother a 70th b-day party next week. So we decided that we are going to get her a nice frame and give her money.
My Grandmother was 80 last month and we gave her money.
Our landlord was 75 in Feb and we gave her a picture frame that she can put a picture of all her grandchildren in.

MOST 70-year olds don't want any more dust-collectors -- they are trying to get RID of chachkas, not add to the collection.
I think the GC -- for a restaurant or her favorite salon, or a movie theatre -- are great ideas.
Also we get my mom (76) taxi vouchers (she doesn't drive) -- she loves them as gifts.
