40th b-day gift
My SIL and BIL are both turning 40 this year, a month apart. They are having a joint dinner party and I am trying to come up with something nice to get them. They have been through a lot the past 1 1/2 yrs and deserve something nice. We are very close to them and want to do something special. I was thinking of a weekend in the city type thing--I would have to do it all with gift certificates cause my BIL has crazy work schedules. But maybe a GC to dinner and a hotel. But what else can I do? Any suggestions.....or even what restaurant/hotel? TIA!!!

If you do the city thing maybe tix to a show.
Or, do they like to ski, or even if they don't the poconos is really nice in the winter with all the resorts, nice and cozy! eta- and reasonable!!

Dh and I went to the Westin Essex House in South Central Park for our anniversary, and it was amazing. There are a bunch of great restaurants in the area as well. A friend of mine always goes to Tavern on the Green, not too far from the hotel I mentioned. She swears by it!
edited for stupidity... lol

Re: 40th b-day gift
A weekend at a B&B in the fall would be a great getaway. Maybe something in either Mystic or Newport.
