Water breaking HELP! TMI

I had my 37 week exam today....she told me I was not dialted or effaced at all.

Over the past few hours I have noticed I am wet down there (sorry for the tmi!!!) More than I ever have been before - but certainly not gushing...

Could it just be becuase I had an internal today or should I be concerned that maybe my water broke or is leaking?!?!?

I never got to the point where my water broke (c-section) but I was told that it could be a trickle. Call your doctor and let him know what you are experiencing!

I'd call the doctor. They can do a test to see what the liquid is! Good luck!!!

i know my water broke after a cough it was slight at first - wet but not a gush. I was all confused. It took awhile before it gushed. I was like you on the internet trying to find the answer!!!

But also after internals - I had some crazy stuff going on - but not really watery....call and be sure!

PS I wasn't dilated or effaced when my water broke at 37 weeks!

I know this is way TMI for me to give, but when I was 38 weeks PG, which was New Year's Eve I felt like I was "leaking" so I called my doctor and they sent me to the Labor & Delivery at the hospital I was to be delivered at. Well, what I thought was my water leaking was actually incontinence (sp) It was urine. It was as clear as it could be, but it was urine. Talk about being embarrassed!!!

Not to be gross, but I was told that amniotic fluid has a sweet smell (if you care to try that).

It could be a trickle or a gush so if you really can't tell what it is, call your doctor.

They can do a really simple test to see if it's urine (if it is it's VERY common so don't be embarassed) or if it's amniotic fluid. it can be a trickle though if it's your fluid. when your water breaks it is usually only the water from the baby's head down, the shoulders keep the rest in place before the baby is delievered, so sometimes it is only a trickle. definately call the doctor. maybe if they poked around they broke something! good luck!

Lay down, if more water comes out when you lay down vs standing...it's a good possibility that it's broken.

Thanks for your help - it wasn't my water breaking (DAMN!!) I think it was from the internal....ACK come out already baby!!!!

I had the same thing happen to me I had coughed and a gush of water came out I went to my GYn and they said it was urine not my water and it was so clear I felt it and smelt it and it felt a little thicker then urine and it didn't have a smell at all so I thought it was my water the broke.
