Cost of putting in a new bathroom
How much do you think it costs to put in a bathroom in the upstairs of a house...the house is kind of like a levitt house...I guess its a cape.

We are gutting our bathroom and putting all new stuff and it's going to cost about $10,000. $5,000 for labor and $5,000 for the stuff we picked out.

We were going to add a second bathroom in the basement. For a 5x7 full bath we were quoted $17,000!
Um, no new bathroom for us!

Wow,seems like a lot of money!
I think this has a lot to do with personal taste.
Someone can like ceramic tiles,while someone else marble. Fixtures also run up the bill.
My DH did our basement bathroom,came to @4,ooo. Nothing fancy-shmancy. Our master bath cost @17,ooo but it is all marble with a whirlpool oversized tub (we never use). But remember,he did all the work so that means it cost less but took a longer time to finish.

I have a contractor that will install a new bathroom for you for $4500. That price is strictly labor only. You buy all the materials and she puts it in. She does very good work.
I bought about $6000 worth of materials (we decided to put in a very nice bath)... and it came out very good.

for our needs i would estimate 5-7K, but with the above numbers flying around i may be way off

Hi, my wife and I live in a Levit cape and we are exploring the idea of dormering the second floor. However, the dormer is more becasue we want it, so we are interviewing contractors to get an idea of the cost. We really need a bathroom on the second floor. We have the same question as you do. I am meeting with contractors next week and will fill you in afterwards. In the mean time did you ever receive a quote on just a bathroom?
