Used laptop computers?
Anyone know where I can get one? I need something with a floppy disk drive that has Microsoft word and that's it. I need it to write my reports for work on it, so I don't have to bring them home. The schools I work in, have outdated computers (surprise, surprise) or there is one for 5 of us to share.
I don't know much about computers which is why I'm afraid of trying ebay so any other suggestions, or if anyone is looking to get rid of an outdated computer, that would be great.
I don't even need internet service, just microsoft word.

I dont really know but I bought a new laptop today at Circuit City and they had some cheaper laptops for between $500-600. Or maybe Ebay?

i know dell has a sale going on.
i personally wouldn't get a used one, either from craigslist or ebay. you just never know what kinds of problems may arise, that could probably end up costing more $$...may as well get a brand new one, that way you get a warranty too. jmo

I would not buy a used laptop from a stranger.
There are too many things that can possibly go wrong with it.
If you shop around, you can buy a new one with a warranty for less than $1000.

#1 I would never buy a used laptop. You can't take it apart to look at the compnents, you don't know if it's been dropped, etc. Ask around though. When I was interning one summer they were selling old laptops for $100. Dell has some new ones for $600 as someone else mentioned and look into discounts if someoen you know is part of a company or academic institution that may have a discount
#2 I actually just bought a laptop, and so I was shopping around for awhile. I don't remeber seeing ANY that had disc drives at all. But most did have CD or DVD RW drives and USB ports. Instead of discs maybe you can use an inexpensive USB key?

You can buy a USB Floppy Drive. They are cheap and you can use them on any new laptop that does not come with a floppy drive.
