Holiday Photos Tips (Especially for New Moms)

I was going to type this in another post but, wanted to make sure all knew about it.

As the holiday season is fast approaching I wanted to give you some hints on getting your holiday photo sessions.

-I would make the appoitment as soon as NOW. You want to make sure you have a decent time.

-I suggest to attempt to get the first appoitment of the day. That way you are not waiting on say a family of 5 kids. (It has happened to me)

-Avoid weekend appoitments. I know this is hard on the working mommies but, if you need to do the weekends I would say do it before Thanksgiving. (& try for the first appoitment)

-Dress your kids at the store. Just in case there is a wait. You want them to be as comfy as possible. So, that they will smile when needed.

-Don't forget to take a bottle a water. (It's always hot & the kids get thirsty) For newborns make it formula.

-Bring wipes so that you can clean off the "How the hell did you get that on your face" smear that always seem to magically appear.

-Bring a comb/brush.

-For older kids bring treats. (the bribe item ) "If you smile you will get this lollipop!"

-Don't let them make you order things you just don't need. They are photographers but they are also sales people. Yes that photo would look great in B&W or Sepia. But you know what when you get your prints you can order them through a computer company in B&W or Sepia for less then 1/2 the price!

-If you can get Daddy to come BONUS!! Sometimes he can make them smile alot easier. (Annoying I know)

Another tip

-For the moms of active kids If they have a favorite toy bring it. Or even bring out a new toy!! That way they will sit & play with it. And give you a smile when you call them.

For moms of babies, bring an extra person. They usually want the mom to hold/spot for the baby while they take the picture. They try to make the baby smile. If you bring an extra person, have them spot the baby. YOU make the baby smile. NO ONE makes a baby smile like their mom or dad.
