I'm a little sad this morning (long post)

Bottom line...my mom will probably not be coming to my baby shower.

My mom has been sick for a while battling severe depression ( she has tried to commit suicide four times in the past 4 years), and major physical health challenges for a long time now. My mom is young (54 years old) but her doctors have told us that her body has been failing her for a while. The depression coupled with her suicide attempts (all 4 times she took a ton of pills) and her health issues she had before are taking its toll on her body. She was in the hospital last month with 2 blood clots, one in her leg and one in her lung. They did a procedure (a graph??) to prevent the clots from moving to her heart. I could literally write a book about the all the physical/metal issues that she has. This has been a long journey for me, my DH, my brother and SIL. Well now my mom has been in a nursing home/rehab place to help her learn how to walk after her surgery 3 weeks ago. Each time she tries to walk, she ends up passing out. She is seeing a neurologist, cardiologist, and physiologist and they cannot figure out why this keeps happening. She was supposed to get out yesterday and this morning I found out that they think she might need another two weeks there. My shower is in two weeks and if there is a risk of her passing out, she cannot come. I do not want an ambulance to show up at the shower and I don't want my mom in a situation where we are risking her health by having her go. This whole thing is so sad. I am thankful that both SIL's and my MIL have been wonderful and I am so blessed to have them in my life. However, my mom has been sick my entire pregnancy and now she might not even attend my shower.
Plus, to make matters worse the other day my Aunt calls me and says "Dina I thought you being pregnant would snap your mom out of it" As if its my fault that she is this way or something! I mean if pregnancy was a cure for depression half the world would be pregnant!!! I know my aunt means well but, how can you say that to someone? Maybe its my hormones, but I am just a mess this morning.
Thanks for letting me vent and cry on here. You are all so supportive and I knew you all would understand.

I somewhat know what you are going through - my shower is this weekend, and my mom is in the hospital too, we are not sure when they will be releasing her

Dina,

I am sorry you are going through this. You and your mom are in prayers. If for some reason, she can't be at your shower, do not let that ruin your day. You and your mom will have beautiful days spent with you and your baby.

I don't think your aunt meant anything rude towards you, I truly think she meant that she thought your mom would really enjoy you being preg. and that may bring more "light" into her life.

I am so sorry to hear about your mom. I know how hard it must be to be going through your prgnancy and not have your mom around. I am going though a bad family situation myself with my sister being very sick and not being able to enjoy her godson. I am her if you ever need to talk.

I am feeling better than I did this morning. I decided to work from home today because I was not in the right frame of mind to see clients.
