Why do strangers feel the need to touch babies or ask personal questions?

Yesterday we go to the mall to exchange some shoes my MIL bought for Nate. The sales associate comes over to see if we needed help, I said no and then she proceeds to the stroller. DS is chewing on his left hand and she just sticks her finger in his right hand. I immediately grabbed a wipe to clean his hands. And she was like "Oh I'm sorry." I was like "as you can see he likes to put his hands in his mouth, so I like to keep them as clean as possible."

Then we go stand in line. There were two women in front of us. Nate is fussing so DH takes him out. They give compliments and then one lady just asks me "Are you nursing?" I said "That's kinda personal to ask someone, but no."

I hate when people touch Jared's hands. Don't people know that babies always put their hands in their mouth?

I was in the mall yesterday with my mother and a little girl, about 8 years old, was coming up quick behind me with her hand reaching out to grab Jared. I spun around and told her not to touch him. I don't care who it is....no strangers should touch your baby.

Another story...

My friend was grocery shopping and had her baby in her carrier. The baby was facing her, not outwards, and an old lady came up and started to go for her face! My friend said, I really don't like anyone touching her because she doesn't have her shots. The old lady was so insulted, she gave her a dirty look and walked away.

Weren't these people mothers once???

The nursing question really bugs the hell out of me! That's a really personal question to ask a total stranger. Why do they need to know that?

Luckily (just ginxed myself) no one goes for his hands.. they just touch his feet but seriously the kid has huge feet so they stitck out. Also I think it helps that he is normally asleep while we are out so no one wants to bother him..

But the people who really piss me off is when I'm buying something and he starts getting fussy and then next thing the clerk stops doing her job to stare at him and says something like "oh, I love when they make angry faces"... well I don't ... hurry it up he's about to blow his top!

I was in the pharmacy the other day waiting for a prescription and this woman was touching his hands and face I was like please dont do that. She looked at me and said a few germs are good for him. I said well I'd rather not have my son getting sick thank you.

I totally understand where you all are coming from I hate that when I am out with marissa that people go to touch her face cux she has chubby cheeks or they go for her thighs cuz they have tons of rolls on them excuse me but would you like me to pinch your cheeks or grab your thighs I always wipe her down after someone touch her a nd I don't care if they get insulted or not. I actually got into an arguement with this woman at the park the other day I had marissa there and I was putting her in the stoller to feed her and this little girl comes over and goes to touch her face I told the little girl no no honey she don't like to be touched when she is about to eat and the little girl must of got insulted and went to her mother and the mother comes up to me and says how dare you tell my child she can't touch the baby I jsut looked at her stunned and said excuse me but I don't know you or your child and I will not have a child that I don't know touch my childs face. THe woman got annoyed said a few other things to me and then walked away. I mean I don't know what this child has touched or anything so I don't need to take the risk of my dauhgter getting sick cuz of some stranger

I hate when strangers touch her hands and cheeks! She is so cute she pulls her hand away Smart girl I didnt even teach her that lol
but it is annoying
