"The Year of Magical Thinking" by Joan Didion

Has anyone read this? If so, please let me know what you thought of it (I'm thinking of putting this on my 'to read' list).

Thank you!

I did read it and thought it very well written. It was doubly sad that her daughter was so sick at the same time. I believe she died a short time after as well.

Maybe it's just me, but I felt as if she were writing as if she was the only woman who ever became a widow.

I did hear this. Did it put you off while reading it?
I've heard such good things about the writing; is it worth buying or am I better off taking it out of the library?

Thanks for responding.

It put me off a bit, but I was interested in learning about her relationship w/her husband and daughter, so I carried on.....

I would get it from the library. Unless you're a collector of her work, I don't see the need to spend the $. (since I'm a librarian, I'm definitely biased)
