Dublin Hotel Recommendations

Looking for a hotel centrally located in Dublin, so we can walk to all of the sights.

Any recommendations?

Also, possibly want to stay in the country side for a night or two. Any towns, bed and breakfast recommendations?

Thanks.

How much money are you looking to spend? The hotels in the center could be quite expensive. Plus Dublin is very small and you can get around fairly easy. I lived there for 18 months so if you have any questions feel free to ask. I would recommend Jury's Hotel if you are looking for a chain type hotel. Otherwise there are a ton of B&Bs. Every other house in Ireland is a B&B. When are you going? There is a town that I love outside Dublin, if I remember correctly it is about 2 -3 hours away called Dungarvan. It is really cute and has a great restaurant called the Tannery. We stayed in a great B&B there. Also, there are many scenic drives around that area. With Waterford being close by.

ETA - This is a helpful website for hotels

Venere I used this site a lot in conjunction with Fodors.

I went about 6 years ago -- and stayed in a hostel. The hotels in the city were VERY expensive at that time, perhaps you can find a nice B&B outside the city limits? Good luck and have a great time and do the Pub Crawl in Temple Bar!!!

Re: Dublin Hotel Recommendations

We went about 4 years ago and got vouchers from the travel agent. Each voucher was good for 1 night at a B&B (which is really someone's house) There are listings by town and which houses participate.

We stayed at a B&B outside Dublin but I'm having a Sr. moment!!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Dublin Hotel Recommendations

I'm from Dublin, so I can offer lots of advice. Jury's Hotel in Ballsbridge, Dublin 4, is expensive, but Jury's Inn at Christchurch or by the IFSC is more reasonable. I've lived in the US for 6 years and there are more hotels open now, but I can recommend the Shelbourne and the Westbury (more expensive hotels) which are right in the center. Also the Davenport and Alexander are walking distance and not as expensive. One that I would recommend is the Harcourt Hotel. It's probably only a 3-star but it's an old Georgian house that's full of character and was the former home of George Bernard Shaw.

If you want to stay outside of the city, Dalkey or Killiney are gorgeous areas in the south of Dublin. Further south I can recommend Arklow in County Wicklow. FM me if you want more detailed info.Chat Icon
