Ubelievable doctor visit!

So I went to an OB/GYN today just to ask some questions and get prenatals.

So I told her that we will TTC next month and that I had some questions/concerns.

I showed her my chart and told her I was worried about higher than normal pre-o temps and that I spot a little till CD 7/8.

Basically she said that I am "regular", 31, never had an abnormal pap and therefore I should take prenatals and call her when I'm pregnant! she said that I should be BD a few days before CD 14 and after cuz that's when women ovulate!

She had no idea how to read a chart- couldn't read it and I was so proud that I figured out fertility friend!

Anyway, I think I 0'd yesterday because I had 3-4 days of EWCM and now I have creamy. I REALLY hope my temps go up tomorrow for proof that I O'd.

I told her I wanted a blood test to check everything and I asked her if it would test my thryoid and she said she would put it on the prescription to make me feel better. So, if my temps go up and my blood tests come back normal I will feel better and hopefully I can stop obsessing.

But, what doctor still thinks all women O on day 14? I bet she never read TCOYF!! Chat Icon

Re: Ubelievable doctor visit!

Almost all ob/gyns go by that belief. I know I have said this many times, but please don't ask ob/gyns for fertility help lol....

Ariella, I'm glad you're teaching your doctor a few things!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I think it's great how everyone here is so proactive in their health.

My dr didn't hear of TCOYF either, but she was glad I was reading it!!!

Mine told me the same thing. But I'm sticking with him for now.

I know what works for me and I take his advice plus the book's advice and make it mine.

Sorry Ariella!! Like Kathy said - at least you know what's going on!!

Thanks ladies!

Kara- I can't believe your doctor told you to throw it out! Chat Icon Chat Icon

I'm going to use the book to time BD, of course. I'm glad I went to her though so I can get my blood tested for piece of mind. But I don't think I'll go back to her except for a referral for an RE if necessary.

Don't worry girlygirl about the pap test. I think she just said that to me because she didn't want to bother to examine me internall again (I had gone to a gyno 6 months ago).

Redstar- this doctor should go to your class- she could learn from you!! Chat Icon
