My DS's christening day is on football Sunday and...
Baseball Playoffs are going on as well...
I had no choice but to choose October 8th. The church was not flexible. They only do it the second sunday of every month. So we couldn't do it in August cuz my dad was in Italy, and then we couldn't do it this month cuz DH's father is in Italy. November and December were not options...I hate really cold weather and I was NOT going to wait till the spring to baptize my son. I didn't even notice if the restaurant has a tv screen at the bar. I hope not. I don't care if it's Football or Playoffs it's my son's special day. I'm a diehard mets fan but that day is for my son. DH's family are diehard football fans. They are baseball fans too but football is all they talk about.
Guess we'll have to get updates from our phones.

I had to plan my DS Baptism around the playoffs & Stupidbowl.
Regular games aren't that big of a deal and missing one baseball playoff game won't kill anyone

We have the same problem... We are ALL DIEHARD Met and Giants Fans... But again, the church wasn't flexible with the dates so we had to do what we had to do...
Only thing there is a TV in the K of C that we rented so i know during one part of the reception there will be only girls...
Good thing he is being Christened at 8:30 am...

Andrew is getting Christened on Oct 8th too 
I didn't even realize it was playoffs but all well. One game isn't going to kill anyone
I just was upset about it being Columbus Day weekend. We lost a lot of people to that.

Not for nothing (and I hope this doesn't upset you.....not my intention) BUT I hope you do go on a Sunday, just for all the nonsense I have read on here that he has put you through!!!!!

Don't mean to crash your board, but wanted to offer some "possible" hope.
October 8 is game 5 for American League and 4 for National League. Since the Division series is best out of 5, there is the possibility that there will not be a game on the 8th. Hope this makes you feel a little better - now if we can figure out a way to move the football game for you!!

Well actually the Mets being out of the playoffs would upset me. I don't care about missing the game, I just don't want them to loose...

I have a wedding on Sunday, in the Hamptons. Ceremony at 3, Reception at 6...DH is NOT pleased...
but hello, this is life...sports are sports. Some people just need to get over it. DH threatened to wear his Chicago Bears Jersey and a helmet in the delivery room if I went into labor on a Sunday...LORD HELP HIM...
Thank God Bella was born on a Thursday night...but I did have to yell at him and my doc for rehashing the Agassi-Blake US Open match!
I hope it's a beautiful day for you and your family!

My OBGYN is a Yankee fan and DH is a Mets and at every visit he would always bust her chops. We were listening to the heartbeat at one visit and the two of them were talking and talking non stop about both teams. I was like I hate to interupt but can we listen to our son's heartbeat please...

LMAO! My DS #1 was born on a Sunday night in October. My DH said the Giants didnt play tha night so he was fine with me going into labor. Ive only later found out what a big Giants fan my OB was too so I guess he was happy as well.
My nephew during the football playoffs in Jan, the OB & the father to be kept going out into the hall to check the score.
Our christening is 10/8 too - oh well.

They can be real babies too. Like DH's brother in law who is a Dolphins fan has to watch the game at home. Well except for October 8th, cuz he is DS's Godfather.
But honestly they are like babies! They plan their whole life around football. And when the season is over they are like "oh man no more football for months"...geez just get over it!

I came across a website that was to plan conception around sporting events. It thought that was over the top until DH realized Joseph's due date was during the World Series.
Luckily I didn't have to divorce him over it since Joseph was "drafted" before the division playoffs.
