My best friend is making an appointment. I've never colored my hair before and I'm nervous.

Do you have a suggestion for color? I have a pic in my profile. I've very fair with freckles and light brown eyes and I ahve very dark brown hair. I was thinking of going lightrer and redder all over..or should I just do highlights?
