I was just without power for about 2 hours and it was sooooo boring!Chat Icon

I decided to take a ride and get gas.

Well, it looks like a mini hurricane hit Merrick. There are trees down all over and all the street lights are out. Cops are trying to direct traffic where they can, but it's pretty scary to be driving down Merrick Ave with no street lights. The streets are just filled with leaves and twigs, and everything else thats been blowing around.

It's so weird to see 7-11 with the lights out!

Anyone else's town like this?

We still have power here in Baldwin, but my street looks like like a war zone! There are branches and leaves and all kinds of debris in the street.

I was just saying to DH that I am surprised we actually have power!

2 hours....wow thats nothing....

Try living in a place when you go without power, you go without water too.

We had no power for at least 3 days when Charlie hit us

We get power surges every time we have a terrible rain storm. I cant tell you how many times I've had to reset my clocks during a storm

At the same time its something we know will happen every year so we are more prepared for it. AND we choose to live here knowing how it will be.
LI is a little different bc these things are not a common occurance.

I know it's nothing here compared to where you are.

It just shows how much I take for granted. I couldn't imagine going 3 days without power.

Actually it wasnt so bad. It was pretty amusing. When it rained we grabbed shampoo, soap and our bathing suites. Talk about taking a shower Chat Icon We BBQ'd, played cards, amused ourselves and just made the best of it. It was fun.

When power goes out it goes all the way Chat Icon

When we had the big blackout here a couple of years ago, I lived with friends. We had a keg and just hung out in the backyard. It was a big party.

It's a little different at home with my dad and grandmaChat Icon

I'm in Massapequa and still have power. It's really windy! Very messy out there. I just hope I don't lose my power!
