positive then negative on pregnancy test????

I took 2 pregnancy tests earlier in the week and they were positive. Today I woke up with AF-type cramps and took another test and it said 'not pregnant' Has anyone had this happen to them? What does this mean? I'm freaking out and am hoping to see the doctor today. I was not scheduled to go in for a blood test until next week.

If I were you I would call your gyn right away and tell him/her what happened. I'm not an expert but it may have been an chemical pregnancy. I wish you luck!

ETA. I wrote ectopic but I meant to say chemical. I get confused with the 2.

I had this happen twice. I would take a pregnancy test..it would be positive and then 5-7 days later it was negative and I got AF. It's called a chemical pregnancy.

Did you use digitals the entire time ? Or was this the first digital you used ?

You may not have enough hcg to pick up the pregnancy with the digital ...or like the other girls said it could be a chemical pregnancy.

Ask to have the bloodwork done so you can see what is happening.

Did you hear any news? Your posting made me so nervous that I kept testing to make sure I was still pregnant. 6 tests later...LOL

I had such faint lines on my HPT well after AF was due. But I knew before those tests that I had a possible chemical pregnancy, the faint lines not getting any darker just confirmed the levels were not going up enough for a viable PG

Turns out it was a chemical pregnancy. They think my progesterone levels are low which is why I keep miscarrying (this was my 2nd) I have an appointment today with my doctor to talk about what happens next.

The doctor can give you a supplement and that will help increase your levels.

I went back to the doctor on Wed and he told me that my progesterone levels were low. So next month I have to go in for more blood work and then hopefully on the next cycle I will start on Clomid. Part of me is glad that we know what the problem is and have a solution but I am also frustrated that now we have to wait 3 cylces to TTC again. That puts me out until May
