Black Tie Preferred
DH and I have a wedding Fri that is black tie "preferred" He is wearing his dark blue suit (which looks black) I have a new red dress I got. He wants to wear a dark blue shirt and a red tie. It would be better if he wore a white shirt though, right? He is set on earing the red tie to match me, but if his jacket is closed you wont see most of it anyways. Its "preferred" not required so I know a dark suit is ok but I wasnt sure if he should wear a white shirt and black tie.
Opinions?

IMO the white shirt and dark tie is better.
even tho is says black tie prefered, so he doesnt have to wear a tux, it's better not to be too casual.

totally agree. I think the dark blue shirt and red tie is too casual, IMO.
