NHL Power Rankings
1. Ottawa Senators (19-4-0; Previous: 1) – Dany Heatley's point streak was snapped Thursday at 22 games when he and the rest of his Ottawa mates were kept off the scoresheet in a shutout loss at Boston. Had he scored, Heatley would have tied Wayne Gretzky's record for most consecutive games with a point for a new team.
2. New York Rangers (17-7-3; Previous: 8) – Martin Rucinsky scored 14 points in 12 games before injuring his knee Oct. 29, yet his return to the lineup Thursday posed a dilemma for the Rangers. That's how well all the pieces fit into place for New York during its recent streak of 10 wins in 13 games. That said, they didn't skip a beat with Rucinsky and Steve Rucchin back in action against Pittsburgh.
3. Nashville Predators (16-4-3; Previous: 6) – Nashville outshot Minnesota 46-20 Thursday, a rarity for a team that had been outshot 16 times in its first 22 games. Credit goalie Thomas Vokoun with the Preds' rise in the standings. He has started all but three of the club's games this season, frequently carrying a team that ranks in the bottom third in the NHL in scoring.

Re: NHL Power Rankings
Even though the Rangers have been playing EXCELLENT hockey... ranking them 2nd in the power rankings is VERY generous of them. The Rangers are a top 5 team... but 2nd? Thats stretching it a little bit.
But its nice to see the Rangers good play finally get some recognition by the analysts.
Where are all the Islander fans on this board that were talking the crap about the Rangers here before the season started?
Oh yeah I know... they still cant get the image of 5'3 Theo Fleury calling 6'6 Eric Carins a ****y out of their heads. LOL

Re: NHL Power Rankings
Well I am a Ranger fan, but I still have to say that they truly have played better then a lot of teams, and Im happy they are showing in 2nd. You have to give credit where credits due, whther you like the team or not. I DO think they deserve it...Now its just a matter of keeping it up....Its what you end up with that matters,,,
