Job advice needed...I went on an interview
last week for an HR job that I am 100% qualified for. In fact, the lady interviewing me said I would be perfect for it. She then had me come back in 2 days later to meet with the VP of HR. I felt like it went really well and she even told me that it was between me and another person and that I should hear by Wed. (This was last Friday).
Fine, so today is Wed. I called my references and no one has heard from them. Not entirely unusual, at my office, we don't always check references. But then last night I had a post card from the company in my mail. It was one of those "thank you for sending your resume, we'll keep on file for 1 year and should any opportunities arise, we'll contact you". It was mailed on Mon 8/22. I know some companies automatically send this to anyone who hands in their resume. But to get a card like that, I thought it was strange.
I just feel like if I did not get it, they would let me know. That's just the feeling I got. The interview went SO well. The job is 20 min from my house and 10 min from the school I want to attend for grad school.
ugh.....the day is still early, i guess

Unfortunately it seems like the old days when they called and let you know either way is no longer the case. I wouldn't get down in the dumps just yet. If you don't hear in a week then I would assume that they decided on the other candidate. But remember, it could be that the person doesn't end up taking it and they call you! So keep your head up! You just never know!!

That's really unprofessional of them if you had a 2nd interview and were told it was down to you and someone else!!
I would have at least given you a call!!
I'm sorry Jen, I know you are really really frustrated in your current role!!
