Frist time on a cruise, any advice?

Fh and I are going on a short cruise to the Bahamas (Nassau, Coco Cay) on August 19th. We'll be on Majesty of the Seas, Royal Caribbean. I'm a little nervous. Any tips? I'll be packing lots of Dramamine. Chat Icon

I suggest the sea bands, as dramamine can make you drowsy. (We leave for Alaska this Friday and that's what I am getting).

Also -- pack a sweatshirt or two in case there are storms and your trip is rerouted up to Canada., Sorry to say it, but better prepared than not! Also I would be sure to check the weather before you go for that area.

This is my first cruise too so I have nothing else to suggest, sorry!

Re: Frist time on a cruise, any advice?

I went on a Royal Caribbean cruise for my HM last year and it was SO MUCH FUN!

All I can say about cruising is that its a fabulous way to relax and be active at the same time... you can really make it the trip you want it to be, there is SO much to do on the ship and in the ports of call

And be prepared to eat a LOT Chat Icon I think that cruise was the beginning of my downfall, since I literally came back from it having gained close to 10 pounds (mind you it was a 10 day cruise but STILL) The food is phenominal

We had absolutely no problems with stormy weather , luckily . We cruised to Bahamas, Grand Cayman and Jamaica.. (we actually left right before all the bad storms starting hitting the south.. cruises that left the week after us were being diverted to Canada as well and Grand Cayman was hit really bad the week after we'd been there) so we truly lucked out.

My Mom and Dad (who have gone on countless cruises) always use the writsbands and never get sick with those. The Dramamine is OK but I have heard people having weird side affects (as Kara said, extreme drowsiness) from it so proceed with caution..

Most of all, HAVE FUN!!Chat Icon

I've been on 3 cruises so far and I LOVE them!!!

I've never gotten sick because you don't feel the ship moving. It's like a giant floating city!
There's so much to do, the gym, the spa, casinos, eating, entertainment...

You're going to have the best time. Have fun!

Re: Frist time on a cruise, any advice?

I just came back from a cruise. We were on the carnival legend and went to Puerto Rico, St. Thomas and Tortola. I did get seasick from the rough waters we hit because of the stormy weather in the caribbean. I forgot the name of the motion sickness pills I took. I got them from the infirmary on the ship cuz I was really sick I had to go down there. They worked fine, but stay away from dramamine.

People go on diets so they can eat on cruises. It will be lots of eating eating eating.

I have been on 3 cruises so Enjoy, you are gonna love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
