I think 4 weeks is fine, I know our calendar has a tendency to fill up quickly sometimes so more notice is always better.

If you are renting a hall....it would depend on when they need a final headcount. If it's 1 week prior to event, I would make the RSVP 2-3 weeks prior.

I'd mail it 4-6 weeks in advance, but set the RSVP date for 1-2 weeks before you need the final head count as mentioned in earlier posts.

I think 4 weeks is fine, especially at a hall. 153 is a TON of people for a bday party!

I think it is OK to SEND OUT the invite 4 weeks ahead of time, but have the RSVP date no MORE than 2 weeks -- I'd say 1 week -- otherwise people put things on the back burner and then forget about them, if they have to rsvp way ahead of time.
